“Feeding with Love and Good Sense: Feeding your Toddler” follows the Ellyn Satter philosophy of helping your child develop a healthy relationship with food. Parents, you will learn about energy and nutrient requirements for your toddlers and preschoolers and learn how to develop your child’s feeding skills. You will learn how to manage and support “normal” eating behaviours in your child. Providing positive influences on children’s eating behaviours will help your child develop lifelong healthy eating habits: A healthy relationship with food is your child’s best defense against obesity and chronic disease in later life!
This program includes two informative nutrition education classes and is ideally suited for parents who have children ages 12 months to 3 years of age.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM YOUR POST-NATAL NUTRITION PROGRAM:
Session 1 — Feeding toddlers ages 12 months and beyond
| This session is an interactive education session where we will view the Ellyn Satter video: “Feeding with Love and Good Sense”. You will then have a chance to discuss with our Spectrum Dietitians the feeding concepts presented in “The Toddler”. You will learn the what, when and how solid food should be introduced to your toddler to maximize their growth, development and healthy relationship with food. |
Session 2 — How much is enough?
| In this session you will learn everything you need to know about the energy and nutrient requirements of your growing toddler. We will also discuss tips on how to meet nutrient requirements for your 1-3 year old (and beyond!), while continuing to foster your toddlers’ healthy relationship with food. We will also discuss types of normal food behaviours you can expect from your child and how to handle them. Parents will also learn how their own eating behaviours and patterns affect their child’s relationship with food. |
